The Need
Washington University was looking for a performance management system – planning, metrics, and reporting – that offered comprehensive insight into compensation planning.
The Solution
The Washington University IBM Cognos project was built and deployed to create a robust business intelligence and performance management solution. The project took three paths to addresses distinct business uses for the IBM Cognos software. They include: Financial Reporting, Human Resource Reporting, and Budgeting and Reporting (Compensation Position Planning, General Operating Planning, Budgeting DW and Reports).
The Benefit
The new solution provides the necessary data, tools, and infrastructure to formulate budgets, models, what-if scenarios and projections in the manner required to manage operations with less manual intervention. Also, reduces costly personnel hours by removing the gathering, matching, and consolidating of data from disparate systems (all which entail a considerable manual effort).
